In Part 2 of Test-driving Login VSI Express we are going to focus on the installation of the VTARGET Machine
Preparing the VTARGET Machine
Ok, good job! The VTARGET VM has been promoted to a Terminal Server, we now need to install Office 2007 to this VM (without SP or with SP2 integrated just avoid SP1 as the plague)
Now that we’re done with Office 2007, the final step is to install the VSI Target software!
Again extract the software and as an administrator, start the setup in the SetupTarget Setup folder (since I’m using 2008R2 I’m using the x64 setup)
Enter the share name we’ve created earlier and click Start.
The setup will go out and install Adobe Reader, Flash, Shockwave,Java and some other tools it needs to do the loadtesting.
After the setup you get a "warning" which is more of a information list of things still to do:
1) Disable IE Enhanced Security
2) Move the VTARGET machine to the Login_VSIComputers OU
3) Configure the Pagefile on VTARGET to be fixed and 2x the memory size
4) Reboot your machine
So while you round up these last four items, I’m going to wrap up this article.
The last article will talk about the configuration of VSI, running the loadtester and analyzing the results.
